The eyes are the windows to the soul. (English Proverb)

We see everything in our world through our eyes. They take in all the unbiased information that is our world and then we color it with our soul, our inner self. Two people can look at the same painting -- one love it, the other hate it. Two people can be dealt a streak of bad luck, one take it on as a challenge, the other wallow in self pity. Two people can see someone in trouble, one stop to help, the other walk on by. So how do I view my world? Is the glass half empty, or half full? I think for the most part I am a positive person and I try to follow that do-unto-others-as-you would-like-done-to-you rule you learn as a child. I think when bad things happen, I do a decent job at staying calm, rational and on the brighter side. When problems creep up, I don't think I spend too much time spreading the blame, but manage to try and find solutions instead. I know that when someone needs help, I am and will always do my best to be there -- not only does it bring my joy to help someone out when they really need it, but I suppose I also feel that I need to pay-it-forward as so many people have been wonderfully helpful to me throughout my life. I certainly am pessimistic when it comes to financial issues (or is tightwad a better word?). I also am not a very confrontational person -- although when I get mad enough to be confrontational, watch out! I suppose the good thing is that overall there are not very many instances in my life when I wish I had chosen to do something drastically different. So how do I view my world? I like the view from my window -- draw the drapes and let the sun shine in!
Here is a related quote I like:
"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within." -- Elisabeth Kübler-Ross
